Marlette- Cass City wrestling took first place in the Marlette Tournament Saturday afternoon. Cass City went 4-1 on the day, with victories over Algonac, Otisville-Lakeville, North Branch, and Brown City. With three teams going 4-1, (Cass City, Marlette, and Algonac) Cass CIty earned the victory by winning the tiebreaker, which was most points scored during the contests totalling 233 points. Wyatt Dickson, Dominik Navara, and Daymon Tabako all posted 5-0 individual records, and Tylor Cowdry, Alex Jeffrey, Darren Dickson, and Josh Daniels went 4-1. Cass City’s Dual meet record currently stands at 6-1. “We are off to a nice start for the season, but there is still a lot of work to do to become better which includes trying to figure out how to beat GTC league foe Marlette,” said Cass City coach Don Markel. Dominik Navara was voted by attending coaches as the the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler for upper weight classes. Cass City’s next match will be this afternoon at Caro.
