DENMARK TWP — A helicopter pilot and passenger are unharmed after having to make an emergency landing Thursday evening.
The pilot of the helicopter was working on power lines at the corner of Quanicassee and VanGeisen Roads at about 250 feet in the air, when a hoist that was attached had a line break.
The break caused the helicopter to pitch and strike a support arm.
“Deputy Ryan Robinson responded to Quanicassee Road and VanGuisen Road in Denmark Township at around 6 p.m. for a report of a helicopter crash,” Tuscola County Undersheriff Glen Skrent said in a press release. “However, upon arrival, responding officers found that the helicopter pilot and passenger were unharmed.”
The blades of the helicopter were damaged and the pilot landed safely in a corn field.
The FAA arrived Friday to inspect the site and the helicopter.
