CARO — The familiar laugh that was heard for more than 40 years through the halls of Caro Family Physicians is now silent but not forgotten.
Dr. Fe Quines, who co-owned the practice on Montague Avenue with Dr. Afonso Ferreira, passed away Monday at the age of 77.
Barb Gardner, who was an insurance biller at the practice for 51 years, said she will always remember Quines’s gentle demeanor and good attitude.
“She was pleasant to work with,” Gardner said. “She almost became like a friend (and) she’ll be missed.”
Marie LaPratt served as office manager for more than 40 years and said Quines was dedicated to her patients.
“She really was a very devoted doctor and never said no to anyone,” LaPratt said.
Lapratt said Quines also went the extra mile to be there for her employees and would do anything to help them.
“It was called a family practice, but she said we were all family working there. That’s why people stayed so long.”
Quines was known to hum through the hallways and LaPratt said her caring ways will stay with those she knew for years to come.
“She always had that nice smile and laugh — kind of giggle, really,” LaPratt said. “I think we’re all going to miss her.”
Quines is survived by her husband Salcor, her son Salcor and Mary Quines, grandchildren Zachary and Zoe Quines, as well as siblings, brothers, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 28 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2755 N. Center Road in Saginaw.
