Virginia Margaret Hinton, age 89, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at Medallion Village in Sebewaing, following a lingering illness. Virginia was born April 23, 1925 in Huron County, the daughter of the late James Lee and Mary Agnes (Vollmer) Hinton. She was employed as a secretary and housekeeper for her best friend, Rev. Fr. Isadore Mikulski, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Alpena and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda. Virginia had a great love of animals and would spend hours bird watching, gardening and working on the daily crossword puzzle in the Detroit Free Press. Left to cherish her memory are one niece, four nephews and their spouses, Brenda Huett and her companion, Rodney Luther of Caro, Gary William and Marjorie Frei of Rhodes, Dennis James and Nancy Frei of Diamondale, Mark Charles Frei of Grand Rapids, Douglas Lee Frei of Las Vegas, Nevada; and many great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, Vernetta Frei; two nephews, William David Frei and Major Michael Joseph Frei, USAF, Retired. The Hinton family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Virginia’s loving caregivers over the past five years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Campus, in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
