Wm. Marvin Kramer, 96, of Kingston, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 11, 1918 in Flint the middle child of five born to William Ray and Ethel B. (Tuck) Kramer. He married Margie Lorraine Legg Christmas Day, 1942 in Kingston. She died June 28, 2006. Marvin worked for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York for 3 years. He worked for Brandon Dixon Elevator Company retiring after over 37 years. Marvin was a life member of the Kingston Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Farm Bureau, Kingston Lions Club and Kingston United Methodist Church. He and Margie were the coordinators of the church funeral dinners for 16 years. Marvin helped with the local food bank distribution of food. He served on the Kingston Community School Board for over 16 years. Marvin was a loyal local and professional sports fan. He loved to watch the Kingston Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons. Although Marvin worked in the city it was important that his family was raised with a healthy country life. This life included raising cattle, horses and growing crops. This hard life nourished him as he watched it build his children and grandchildren. Marvin loved celebrating the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren whether it be a new car or new job and he loved sharing this with anyone who would listen. Marvin is survived by his children: Mary Lanna (Venard) Stark of Kingston, Douglas (Paula) Kramer of Kingston, Rodney (Janet) Kramer of Bradenton, FL, Joy (Rick Bow) Kramer Bow of Kingston; 15 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson and the second great-great-grandchild due soon; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, William Marvin Jr.; grandson, Kent Kramer; sisters: Betty Winton, Lona Dixon, Mary Abbey; brother, George Ben Kramer. Funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Kingston United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Passenger and Rev. Debra Brown officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Kramer weree his grandsons. Memorials may be made to Kingston United Methodist Church.
