Mary O’Brien TerBush, Caro

Mary O’Brien TerBush of Caro, age 59, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie. Mary was born September 10, 1955 in Caro, one of seven children born to Paul O’Brien and the late Sally (Cockerill) O’Brien.  She was a 1974 graduate of Caro High School, and a graduate of Howard’s Beauty Academy in 1975. Mary began her career as a hairdresser at Talk of the Town and Beauty by I, before opening a beauty shop in her home. Most recently, Mary cared for the elderly as a hairdresser in several area nursing homes. She would also often be seen helping her brother, Peter, in his catering business, P.J. O’Brien’s. Mary was united in marriage with Robert TerBush on June 26, 1982 in Caro, and he survives her.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, Gleaners, Tuscola County Relay for Life, Thumb Area Quilting Guild, and was a huge supporter of the clubs and organizations that her daughters participated in. Always busy, Mary used her boundless energy to care for others. Her greatest joy came from her family and friends, to whom she was constantly committed. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking, refinishing furniture, reading and gardening. Mary is survived by her husband, Robert TerBush of Caro; two daughters, Megan TerBush of Saginaw, Paige TerBush of Lansing; her father, Paul O’Brien of Caro; six siblings and their spouses, Micheal and Denise O’Brien of Ypsilanti, Bridget and Charles Smith of Caro, Thomas and Jacqueline O’Brien of Roscommon, SueAnn and Robert Hanes of Cass City, Jo and Brian Salgat of Lowell, Peter O’Brien of Caro; grandmother, Dorothy Cockerill of Caro; mother-in-law, Maxine TerBush; sister- and brother-in-law, Pattie Ann and Donald Gaudett of Vassar; seventeen nieces and nephews; and twelve great-nieces and nephews.  In addition to her mother, Mary was preceded in death by one niece, Lauren O’Brien; one nephew, Kyle Smith; and her father-in-law, Ted TerBush. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Campus in Caro with Rev. John Ladd officiating.  In keeping with Mary’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.  The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Mary O’Brien TerBush Family Discretionary Fund, to be distributed to her many community charities.  The family was assisted with these arrangements by the Ransford Collon Funeral Home of Caro.  Friends may share memories, thoughts and prayers online at www.RansfordCollon.com.
