Evelyn D. Kirby of Caro, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center in Mayville, following a lingering illness. Evelyn was born May 10, 1939 in Sterling, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (McKnight) Spencer, coming to Caro to live in 1951. She and her family also lived in Fairgrove for a brief period before coming back to Caro to live in 1991. For several years, Evelyn was employed as a machine operator making car parts.
Evelyn is survived by two children, Joyce Spencer of Caro, and Cheryl Wright and her husband, Phil, of Caro; eleven grandchildren; two sisters, Linda White and Betty Jean Spencer, both of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; one brother, Bob Spencer and his wife, Carol, of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and former husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by two sons, James Winston Kirby and Eugene Kirby; one daughter, Brenda Morris Kirby; one grandson, James Morris; and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Chaplain Ron Compton of Heartland Hospice officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Kirby Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Cheryl & Phil Wright, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
