David E. Parkinson, Jr., 43, of Lyons, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Flint, Michigan on June 23, 1970, the son of David E. Parkinson, Sr., and Gloria J. (nee Ogger) Willhelm. He spent his early life in Michigan where he attended school and graduated from Wayne Memorial High School. In his six years of active duty in the Army, David spent the majority of his time in Berlin, Germany, along with serving in Operation Desert Storm during the Persian Gulf War. On August 2, 1991, in Caro, Michigan, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Louise Pastor. Following marriage, they made their home in Berlin, Germany; Tennessee; Michigan; and Wisconsin. Dave was a Union Business Representative for Operating Engineers Local #139. He was a life member of the VFW and DAV and a member of the Masonic Lodge. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; his children, Gage and Kirsten Parkinson; parents, Gloria (Ken) Willhelm of Fenton, Michigan and David (Bev) Parkinson of Chatham, Michigan; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alicia (Don) Majask of Caro, Michigan and Dennis (Anita) Pastor of North Branch, Michigan; siblings, Kathy Gonzales, Tamie Willhelm, Wayne Willhelm, Angela Parkinson, Cindy Dougherty; four sisters-in-law, Jeanette Letson, Dee Pastor, Sue Summersett, Patty O’Dell, and numerous Military Brothers, “The Wild Bunch”. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Services for Dave will be Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, Wisconsin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan on December 13, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.
