KINGSTON — The Kingston school board is inviting the community to help them make a decision that will affect their entire school Monday.

The board will be interviewing the final four candidates to fill the position as superintendent of Kingston Community Schools. The interviews will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Kingston High School cafeteria.

“We’re hoping for a good crowd Monday night to listen to the candidates and put in some input,” said Kingston school board president Dave Kolacz. “We want to make sure everybody is there.”

The school board narrowed the search down to four from an original 14 candidates during a meeting Monday evening. The school board members went through each candidates and scored them with a number system to pick the top four.

The candidates to be interviewed Monday are Dru Milliron, former Posen Consolidated School superintendent in Posen, MI, Joseph Perrera, high school principal at Genesee School District, James Green, dean of students at Kingston High School and Matthew Drake, middle school principal of Capac Community Schools.

Each candidate will have approximately 45 minutes to interview.

Kolacz said they hope to make a decision by the end of Monday night, however if they can’t, they will re-evaluate the candidates.

“If we can’t make a decision we might through them again and maybe call people back that were close,” Kolacz said.

The chosen candidate will be filling the seat vacated by former superintendent Mike McLaughlin, who submitted his resignation at the regular Kingston school board meeting June 24.
