CARO — A dinner and dancing event is planned to celebrate the life of one very talented individual.
Michael Rowe, who passed away August 25, at his home following a long battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia, will be honored Dec. 21 at a dinner and dancing event at the Lighthouse Church in Caro.
“This party is just so people can come to get to know Mike better and for people to remember his life,” his wife, LoAnn Rowe said. “He did so much for the community.”
Michael Rowe worked at the Vassar Building Center as an architect and designed countless buildings in the area. He also served as a manager at the Caro office of Rowe Engineering.
“He was a surveyor, architect, realtor,” Rowe said. “He was just a heck of an amazing person.”
Rowe said her husband was the kind of person who was constantly in motion and involved in so many aspects of the community.
He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church and loved the out-of-doors. He loved to go hunting, fishing, planting trees and cutting wood. He was a member of the Caro Moose Lodge, the Caro Lions Club and various other organizations.
Rowe said her husband fell ill to Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia, which took it’s toll rather quickly over the past year.
“A year ago, he was hunting,” she said. “It has been a real nightmare to go through.”
Rowe said she wanted the community to remember her husband the way he was, as a talented, loving individual. With this in mind, she thought the dinner, dancing event is just what was needed for family and friends.
The dinner portion of the planned event will includ vegetables grown from the couple’s garden, scalloped potatoes as well has ham and beef, provided by the family.
The event will run 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and is free to the public.
“Cards are accepted, so the kids will know the public hasn’t forgotten grandpa,” Rowe said.
Many of his drawings will be on display during the event.
