Leaella M. Taylor, age 87 of St. Helen passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Life Span Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek, MI. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 11AM at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, MI with Pastor Lyle Ohman officiating. Family will receive visitors Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 4-8 PM and 10 AM until time of service on Thursday. Internment will take place at Fremont Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Regional Dialysis Services of West Branch.
Leaella was born on July 12, 1926 to Lincoln and Luella Kennard in Detroit, MI. She married Maurice Taylor on January 29, 1949 in Angola, Indiana. Leaella attended St. Helen Baptist Church and Juanita Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband in their motor home after retirement. Leaella also enjoyed bingo, word searches, and spending time with her family. She is survived by 4 children: Ronda (Garry) Steverson of Homer, MI, Mauricia (Rodney) Knack of Orion, MI, Robert (Vicki) Taylor of Pensacola, FL, Glenda O’Brien (Guy Boiley) of Allen Park, MI. 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Leaella was preceded in death by: husband Maurice on September 4, 2006, one grandson, Mark Steverson, one great granddaughter Meghan Walker, 3 brothers; Burton, Kenneth, and Raymond Kennard, and her parents.
