James “Jim” Mabry, age 71, of Mayville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at home with his family. Jim will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11 AM at the West Dayton Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Mayville VFW Post #10884 and the Mayville American Legion Post #181. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Jim was born January 29, 1943, the son of the late Harry and Norma (Tryon) Mabry in Ann Arbor, MI. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines from April 27, 1961 to April 26, 1965. On October 1, 1975, Jim married Wenona Freed at Dayton Center Church. Jim retired from Leaseway Transportation in 1986 after more than 30 years of service. Jim loved boating, woodworking, sharing good times with his family and friends. One of his most favorite activities was picking on his beloved wife, “Nonnie”. Jim is survived by: his wife, Wenona; son, Glenn Spurling of Mayville; daughters, Kimberly (Dennis) Grimshaw of Mayville and Charlene Mabry of Houghton Lake, MI; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
