Paul Stewart, Bradenton, Florida and Fairgrove

Paul Stewart, age 76, of Bradenton, Florida and Fairgrove, died Friday, May 2, 2014. The funeral service took place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Fairgrove United Methodist Church, Rev. William P. Sanders officiated with burial following in Brook-side Cemetery. Paul’s family were present at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove to receive friends on Monday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Tuesday, Paul was taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Fairgrove United Methodist Church or to Hometown Hospice-Lapeer. Envelopes are available at funeral home and church.  Paul was born June 29, 1937, in Fairgrove, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ellis & Ruby Irene (Bedell) Stewart. He married Bonnie Fentner in Reese, on October 26, 1957.  Sadly, she preceded him in death on November 11, 2011.  Paul worked as a Boiler Fireman for Saginaw Steering Gear for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Bradenton City Shuffleboard Club. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, driving tractors in the field during the fall harvest, woodworking; he was an expert bowl maker, listening to Willie’s Roadhouse on XM Radio, and traveling across country.  Left to cherish his memory are, five daughters, Barbara (Keith) Meyer, Paula (Kyle) Johnson, Donna (Scott) Bernia, Pamela Stewart and Marcia (Noah) Burns; 8 grandchildren, Paul, Adam, Sarah, Ashley, Sierra, Alyssa, Macgregor and Edward; 4 great-grandchildren, Drake, Cole, Kelsey and Keagen; his sister, Laura Cayford; special friends, Dick (Alice) Starkey; and many other family members and friends.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, his brother James Stewart and his sister Marrion Gamble.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hometown Hospice, Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro and MBV Transport.  Those desiring may share a memory with the family at the funeral home, church or online at www.martinfuneralhome.com.
