Esther Lucille Collon, 83, of Unionville, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on the morning of Sunday, April 27, 2014 in Tawas City. Esther was born in Cheboygan on September 20, 1930, the daughter of the late Clyde and Cynthia (Gallaway) Birdsall. A graduate of Caro High School, Esther went on to work for many years at the post offices in both Unionville and Fairgrove. At a dance in Akron, Esther met Richard Collon. They dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on July 9, 1949. Their marriage was blessed with three children, countless memories and over fifty-five years, before he preceded her in death on November 2, 2005. Esther dearly loved her family (especially her grandchildren), her cats and any and every baby she came in contact with. Her quiet, yet kind and hardworking ways will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vickie and husband, Jim Roller of Bay City, Rhonda and husband, Cliff Miller of East Tawas and Dennis Collon of Caro. Esther was the unconditional loving grandmother of Jamie and husband, Travis Vella of Unionville, Leah Collon and her friend, Scott of Gregory, Nathan Roller and his fiancé, Lauren Fedak of Pinckney, Megan Roller and her husband, Kyle Grote of Chicago, Cliff Miller and his fiancé, Kristi Arnold of Tawas City and Allan and wife, Schylur Miller of Tawas City. Also surviving are Esther’s great-grandchildren, Allan Miller, Jr., Caleah Vella and Koda Vella; sisters, Joyce Perry of Clio, Evelyn and husband, Ferris Rushlo of Sebring, FL., and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Esther was welcomed home to heaven by her sisters, Shirley Adele Wright and Dolores Ann Shannon. Esther’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Saturday, May 10, 2014, Esther will be taken to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 206 Scheurmann St., Essexville where visiting will continue from 10:00 AM until her 11:00 AM Funeral Ceremony. Rev. Eric A. Stone will officiate and private interment will be held in Wisner Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to the wishes of the family.
