NANCY LOU HOWELL, Cass City

Nancy L. Howell, 71, of Cass City, died following a long illness, Saturday, May 3, 2014 in her home.  She was born July 6, 1942 in Saginaw to Earl Stone and Dolly Belle (Force) McComb.  She married Douglas Howell October 10, 1959 in Caro.  He died March 1, 2013.  Nancy was the youngest daughter of eight children.  She attended Caro Public Schools.  Nancy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, puzzles, quilting, painting by numbers, gardening, canning, bowling, fishing, camping, bird watching and watching the “Waltons”. Nancy was a member of the Caro Church of the Nazarene. She liked old country music, roses and the color red.  Nancy enjoyed family gatherings and loved spending time with her grandchildren, which helped to keep her active.  Nancy is survived by her children: Louise Ponder of Cass City, Grant Howell of Cass City, Robert (Mary) Howell of Caro, Becky Dibble of Cass City, Doug Howell, Jr. of St. Charles, Mike Howell of St. Charles; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, James (Carla) Hickie; many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, James Wilbur Hickie; brothers: Herbert McComb, infant Carl McComb, Calvin McComb; sisters: May Belle Ensign, Shirley Badder, infant Gracie Hickie.  Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Bishop James Fader of White Cloud Church of God, officiating.  Interment is in Ellington Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Family Discretionary Fund.
