David W. Nelson, 58, of Deford, died following a short illness Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in his home with his family by his side. He was born March 31, 1956 in Pontiac to Robert and Betty (Payne) Nelson. He married AuralieAnne Burgess November 1, 1985 in Rochester. David worked for General Motors retiring after over 32 years. He enjoyed spending time with his son playing Around the World basketball perfecting his “Bread and Butter” shots, golfing, fishing and swimming in the pond. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and going up north with friends. He was an avid sports fan who especially loved the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. He enjoyed working outside with his tractor and working in his garden. David was a caring, fun loving man, a man to look up to. He was charasmaticbut firm always doing his own thing. David is survived by his wife, Auralie; son, Justin Nelson of Deford; step-daughter, Angela Sartell of Deford;father, Robert Nelson of Auburn Hills; brother, Jeffrey (Lisa) Nelson of Kingston; sister: Gayle (Robert) Elkins of Oxford; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Nelson; brother, Michael Nelson; nephews: Robert Matt Nelson and Chris Bishop. Funeral service held 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Brad Speirs of Novesta Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will take place later in Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester. Memorials may be made to Home and Hospice Advantage.
