BERNARD R. LOAFMAN, Caro

Bernard R. Loafman of Caro, age 76, passed on Monday, July 21, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw.  Bernard was born July 15, 1938 in Flint, the son of the late Archie Lee & Bertha (Goodwin) Loafman.  Following graduation from high school in Flint and service in the U.S. Army, he began his career of more than thirty-two years with General Motors, retiring in 1997.  After his retirement, Bernard was united in marriage with the former Rose Miceli on December 8, 2007 in Caro and moved to this area at that time.  During his free time, Bernard enjoyed playing cards, fishing, crossword puzzles, singing, reading his Bible and was an active member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Caro.  He also enjoyed being with his coffee group at McDonald’s every morning.   Bernard is survived by his wife, Rose Loafman of Caro; one daughter, Rachel & Scott of Montrose; one grandson, Chase of Montrose; three brothers, William, Curtis, and Donald Loafman; one sister, Barbara Irwin; and many nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are special friends, June Putman, Carol Norrington and Ronald & Nancy Harris.   In addition to his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.  Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michael Wester officiating. Military Honors followed the service under the auspices of the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Army. Burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery in Mt. Morris.  The family received friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro Lighthouse Baptist Church.  The family was assisted with these arrangements by the Ransford Collon Funeral Home of Caro.  Friends may share memories, thoughts and prayers online at www.Ransford Collon.com.
