JOHN FREDERICK TAYLOR, Caro

John Frederick Taylor of Caro, age 69, passed on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at United Hospice Residence in Marlette.  John was born July 22, 1945 in Brazil, Indiana, the son of the late William J. & Dorothy L. (Powell) Taylor.  After graduation from high school, John enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.  John was united in marriage with the former Katherine Morgan, in Baldwin Park, California on November 26, 1966. Following his discharge from the Marines, John served with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department for twenty-five years, retiring as a Lieutenant.  John and Katherine chose to spend their retirement in Caro, and have lived here since.  He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles and the group he would ride with called the ‘Geezers’.  John is survived by his wife of over forty-seven years, Katherine Taylor of Caro; one son and his wife, David & Dawn Taylor of Oxford; two grandchildren, John and Andrea Taylor; two brothers and their wives, Don & Pat Taylor of Lapeer, Jim & Marsha Taylor of Oscoda; one sister, Kay Taylor of Pontiac; and many nieces and nephews that include Nicole and Mike Schulte and great-nephews, Dylan and Luke Schulte.  In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Shane Kemp officiating.  Military Honors will follow the service under the auspices of the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Marine Corp.  The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the United Hospice Service of Marlette.  The family was assisted with these arrangements by the Ransford Collon Funeral Home of Caro.  Friends may share memories, thoughts and prayers online at www.Ransford Collon.com.
