Michael Paul Gonzales of Caro, age 18, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 as the result of an automobile accident. Mikey was born October 5, 1995 in Saginaw, the son of Michael & Tammy (Bigger) Gonzales and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 2014. He will be remembered for his enormous heart, love for people and animals. Mikey dreamed of being a dairy herdsman, and was employed as a milker at a local dairy farm. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and cared deeply for his cows, sheep and pigs. Mikey was also involved in several sports throughout his life, including basketball and track in shot put and discus. His true sporting passion, however, was football, a sport he thought of constantly; and Mikey served as a captain of the varsity team during his senior year. He will be missed by countless many for his sense of humor, compassion and ability to draw family and friends together. Mikey is survived by his parents, Michael & Tammy Gonzales of Caro; five siblings, Nathan, Anthony and Brianna Gonzales, Ashley Bigger and Autumn Mayse, all at home; paternal grandmother, Doris Miners; maternal grandparents, Wallace Bigger and Bethelda Bigger; special aunt, Barbara Mayse; beloved companion, Kayla Brown; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends. Mike was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Barney Bonifasio Gonzales; step-grandfather, Lawrence Miners; aunt, Sheila Bigger; and cousin, Lennox Bigger. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Colwood United Brethren Church in Caro with Rev. Dave Wilczynski officiating. Burial will follow at a later time at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will receive friends at the Colwood United Brethren Church on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Gonzales Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Michael & Tammy Gonzales, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
