Barbara Jean Shagena of Cass City, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. Barbara Stewart was born January 24, 1946 in Caro, the daughter of the late Glenn and Betty (Force) Stewart. She attended and graduated from Villa Maria High School in Grand Rapids. Barbara was a home health aide and worked for private home care agencies. In her free time, she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo, going to casinos, and making objects on plastic canvas, whether it be magnets or large box figures as Christmas ornaments.
Barbara is survived by three children, Charles and Tonya Creason, Jr. of Cass City, James and Katie Creason of Vassar, Melissa Shagena Payne of Cass City; six grandchildren, Alek, Arek, Zane, Brendan, Jackie and Andrew; her siblings, Karen and Ken Spencer of Cass City, Sherrie Spencer of Toledo, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Stewart; and one sister, Kathryn Sandmann.
In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family remembrance will be held at a later date.
