David Kenneth Wark, age 81 years of Akron, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014. He was born in Bay City on December 28, 1932, a son of John and Ruth Wark. On September 21, 1957, he married Esther Helmreich. Dave served with the US Army and retired from the Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors in 1991 after 32 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 21, Unionville and a long-time member of their bowling league, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Unionville. Surviving along with Esther, his loving wife of almost 57 years, are their children, Kenneth of Tennessee and Connie living in Grand Rapids; grandchildren, David (Jessica), Jonathan, and Nicole (Matthew) McDonald, all of Tennessee, and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, Jake (Barbara) Wark and Joe and a sister, Naomi. Preceding him in death was a sister, Esther Reigh. The funeral service took place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Stolarczyk officiating. Interment in Wisner Township Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Unionville Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Church Youth Group or American Legion Post 421.
