Roy Adam Auern-hammer, 77 years of age, fell asleep peacefully in the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his home. He was born on November 12, 1936 in Saginaw, son of the late Adam and Elsie (Gugel) Auernhammer. He married Bernice Ehrlinger on August 18, 1962 and she survives him. Roy was employed with Agrico/Crop Production Services for 44 years until his retirement in 1999. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved riding his bike, hunting for morels in the spring, and deer hunting. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville and served in the National Guard. Surviving in addition to his wife Bernice are his children; Kenneth (Ann) Auernhammer, Millington, Diane (Keith) Kueffner, Frankenmuth, and John (Kimberly) Auernhammer, Vassar. Also surviving, his pride and joy, are his six grandchildren; Tyler and Kylie Auernhammer, Kayla and Cody Kueffner, and Evan and Ella Auernhammer; brother, Dale (Joyce) Auernhammer, brothers-in-law Edwin (Marion) Ehrlinger, Melvin (Ruth) Ehrlinger; sister-in-law, Janet Gaffke and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Auernhammer. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the wonderful caregivers of Heartland Hospice, especially his nurse Sally and as well to Travis and Marie from the Care at Home Agency. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2014 from St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Wes Gillaspie and Pastor Rob Gadeken will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Roy’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese on Saturday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
