Frederick J. Bardwell, Jr. of Caro, age 68, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Hills & Dales General Hospital in Cass City. He was born April 26, 1946 in Cass City, the son of Twila (Kenney) Bardwell and the late Frederick Bardwell, Sr. He was united in marriage with the former Elaine Thane on December 31, 1964 at the Caro United Methodist Church. Following his graduation from Owen-Gage High School with the class of 1964, Fred worked for General Motors and attended GMI for three years studying Industrial Engineering, finishing his BS at Western Michigan University. Fred was employed with General Motors as a Senior Systems Analyst until his retirement. He enjoyed farming, raising his rescue burros, which was his therapy in his spare time, hunting in Wyoming, camping on the lake, as well as being an avid bowler. For many years he was the Ellington Township Clerk and had been the youngest Township Supervisor elected to that position. Fred was a member of the Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church. Fred is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Elaine Bardwell; two children, Mitch Bardwell and Christine Linton of Belleville, Randi Beth and Gary Skinner of Caro; six grandchildren, Audreyona Skinner, T.J. Skinner, Rebekkah Skinner, Koriin Skinner, Ashley Bardwell, and Samantha Bardwell; three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Drake and Gabryella; his mother, Twila Bardwell of Cass City; a brother, Thom Bardwell and his wife, Karla, of Caro; sister-in-law, Linda Bardwell of Parma; nieces and nephews, Tom, Eric, Aaron, Shannon and Hallie Bardwell; pets he dearly loved, Olive and Cricket; as well as many farm animals. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Bardwell. Funeral services for Fred will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church in Caro with Pastor Dorothy Thon officiating. Burial will follow at the Ellington Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
