Anna (Fletcher) Childs of Caro, age 96, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community, following a long illness.  Anna was born June 24, 1918 in Cass City, the daughter of the late Neil and Elizabeth (Copland) Fletcher.  When she was about seven years old, she went to live with her aunt and uncle, Robert and Agnes Cowan, at their farm on Graf Road in Almer Township, where Anna continued to reside for the rest of her life.  She attended the Lewis School and graduated from Caro High School.  Anna married Leon Childs on November 10, 1944, and he preceded her in death in 2005.  Anna was a hard-working farm wife, a devoted mother, and a dedicated Christian.  She loved baking, crocheting, sewing, and creating things with her hands.  Her children and grandchildren have many treasured possessions that she made for them, but they will treasure most of all the memories of time spent with her at the farm home on Graf Road.

Anna is survived by four children, Neil (Lynda) Childs of Horton, Carl (Cathy) Childs of Fairgrove, Mary (Mark) Lewis of Unionville, Dean (Susan) Childs of Tipp City, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Mary Helen Arthur, Edwin Childs, Carol Fletcher, Carren Englehart, Christopher Childs, Matthew, Mitchell and Michael Lewis, Katelyn and Alexander Childs; great-grandchildren, Anna Arthur, Robert Childs, Simone and A.J. Fletcher, Zachary and Brennan Englehart, Chanc Childs, Kevin and Kyle Lewis; two sisters-in-law, Harriett Childs of Unionville and Leola Childs of Caro; as well as many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Merchant, Lillian Kennedy; and a great-grandson, Caleb Lewis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Colwood United Brethren Church in Caro with Pastor Donald Turner officiating.  Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro.  The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Tuscola County Medical Care Community or the Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Neil Childs, 205 W. Sherman St., Caro, MI 48723.  The family wishes to thank the Tuscola County Medical Care Community for the loving care given to our mother during the final days of her life.  The family was assisted with these arrangements by the Ransford Collon Funeral Home of Caro.  Friends may share memories, thoughts and prayers online at www.RansfordCollon.com.
