Delmar Eugene Scribner, age 91 years, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw. He was born on November 24, 1922 in Berville, Michigan, the son of the late Cecil and Ivah (White) Scribner. Delmar married Evelyn (Sutherland) Blackmore on January 18, 1963, and she preceded him in death on April 15, 1991. He started farming as a young man and eventually began working at Eaton Corporation, retiring from Grede Manufacturing. Delmar and Evelyn traveled extensively their entire lives, covering many interesting places. Surviving family include his brother, Donald Scribner; step-son, Clinton (Donna) Blackmore; step-daughter, Patricia Kuiper; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Delmar was preceded in death by a step-son-in-law, Klaas Kuiper and sisters, Doris (Bill) Doig and Marjorie (Ron) Opperman. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St. in Vassar. The Rev. Cathy Christman officiating, with burial following at Riverside Cemetery. The family greeted friends on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
