Robert Lee Brown of Caro, age 73, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw. Born and raised in Leesburg, Virginia, Bob moved to Caro in 1963. In his early years, Bob worked as a manager of Newkirk’s Gas Station in Caro. In 1966 he took a job at Eaton/Grede Foundry in Vassar where he worked for thirty-eight years. Bob was also a longtime member of the United Steel Workers Local 564. Bob had a passion for all things mechanical. He enjoyed working on engines and tinkering with his lawn mowers and automobiles. He was also a great handyman, always ready to assist his daughters with home projects either hands-on or with expert advice. Bob is survived by two daughters, Leanna Hartman and her husband, Mike, of Caro, Julie Hutchison of Traverse City; and two grandchildren, Corey and Haley Hartman. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial has been planned. The family was assisted with these arrangements by the Ransford Collon Funeral Home of Caro.
