Elizabeth “Betty” Mae Ault, age 92, of Caro, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. She was born August 8, 1922 in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Donald E. Snow. Betty was raised in Anderson, Indiana, and attended school there through the tenth grade. She graduated from high school in Roanoke, Virginia, received a B.S. in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, and did graduate work at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and Indiana University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mrs. Ault taught English at Marion High School in Indiana and Whitehall High School in Columbus, Ohio. She also taught GED, ESL and life skills in a government program in Decatur, Indiana. Betty was voted into the league of Pen Women of America, and was named to Who’s Who in American Women as an author and educator. She wrote for a devotional magazine and authored From Darkness to Dawning for the Nazarene Mission reading book program. In 1943, she married Donald K. Ault, and they served as missionaries in Zambia, Africa and Guyana, South America. They served pastorates for the Church of the Nazarene at Middletown, Goshen, Yorktown, Marion and Decatur, Indiana, Vandalia and Columbus, Ohio. Upon retirement in 1989, they moved to Ocala, Florida. Mrs. Ault was a well-known speaker for many years in missionary conventions and work-shops in this area, for the missionary programs of the church. Mrs. Ault is survived by two sons, Donald K. Ault, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Caro, and Douglas K. Ault and his wife, Patricia, of St. Petersburg, Florida; five grandchildren, Lisa (Erik) Andresen, Robert (Katie) Ault, Erin (Jason) Gross, Aime (Mark) Scott and Alexia Ault; twelve great-grandchildren, Kristian, Anneka, Nicklas and Charlotte Andresen, Nathan, Ryan and Evan Ault, Jackson, Jamison and Georgia Gross, Everett and Garrett Scott; one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Jeffries of Pinellas Park, Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the USA and Canada. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, James R. and Donald Snow, Naomi Martin and Mary Colter. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Paul McNett officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana.
