Nicholas Geiermann of Deford, formerly of Saginaw, age 54, passed away at his home on Monday, November 3, 2014, following a courageous battle with ALS. Nick was born May 6, 1960 in Monroe, MI, the son of Thomas J. and Ann M. (Blessing) Geiermann. He moved to Bay City with his family as an infant and graduated from John Glenn High School in 1978. Nick continued his studies at Michigan Technological University in Houghton where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1983. While still in college, Nick was united in marriage with the former Susan L. Bowman on June 14, 1980 in Bay City. Susan preceded Nick in death on October 8, 2003. Nick then met Sherri Beecher, his companion, friend, caregiver, and fiancé. Nick was employed with KUKA Corp., formerly known as B & K Corporation in Saginaw, MI, where he designed automotive system-testing machinery. He was happiest outdoors with a dog by his side. Nick enjoyed hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, camping, woodworking and tinkering. He had a sense of humor and wit that even ALS couldn’t tame, and while his body became infirmed, his mechanical and logical mind never faltered. Nick is survived by his fiancé, Sherri Beecher of Deford; one daughter, Amber L. (Dylan) Peters of Palm Coast, FL; his parents, Thomas and Ann Geiermann of Bay City; four siblings, Chris (John) Musser of Kawkawlin, Linda Overholt of Bay City, Joe (Steve) Geiermann of Arlington, MA, Lisa (Bret) Seelinger of Jenison; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Shaun Beauch; and not to be forgotten, his crazy dog, Riley Independence. Nick’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the people who made his life comfortable for the past two years, including his special caregivers, Evan, Eon, Sharon and Bear, and the dedicated staff at Heartland Hospice and A&D Home Health Care. In keeping with Nick’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering has been planned from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. A memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with Nancy Rivet officiating.
