George Edward Sevener, 91, of Vassar, died, Friday morning, February 21, 2014 at Lutheran Manor in Saginaw. He was born October 17, 1922 in Tuscola County, son of the late Lee and Effie (Main) Sevener. He attended Vassar Schools where he excelled in athletics. His wife Coleen Mae Curvin predeceased him April 18, 1953. George served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps. during WWII. His hobbies included hooking rugs, traveling and horses.
Surviving is his son, Lee Sevener and his wife Nancy of Caro; two daughters, Verona Reinert and her husband Dick of Frankenmuth; and Beth Hecht and her husband Larry of Vassar; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one brother, Larry Sevener and his wife Mona of Omaha, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews and many close friends and acquaintances. In addition to his parents and wife, George was predeceased by one great-granddaughter.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering time to honor George’s life will take place from 2-5 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Vassar Liquor Bar (Cheeks), 122 E. Huron Ave. in Vassar.
