Clayton W. Palm, 55, of Vassar, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, February 26, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1958 in Detroit, son of the late Walter and Marion (Diener) Palm Jr. Clayton attended Reese Public Schools. He married his high school sweetheart, Heiki Lynn Schluckebier in Richville, February 25, 1977 and cherished thirty-seven years together. She survives him. Clayton farmed his entire life in the area leaving a legacy of his love for the land and his family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and his love for eating food, especially his late grandmother’s cooking. Surviving besides his wife Heiki are his children and their spouses, Brandon and Miranda Palm of Munger; Nathan and Nichole Palm and Ryan and Danae’ Palm, all of Vassar; and Gina (Michael March) Palm of Caro; four grandchildren, Blake, Jacob, Lily and Kaitlen Palm, Also surviving are his sister; Mary Morley and her husband Randy of Reese; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Frank) Ramey of Knoxville, TN; Renee’ (William) Marsrow of Richville; brother-in-law, Brian (Hanne) Schluckebier of Copenhagen, Denmark; mother-in-law and father in-law, LeRoy and Virginia Schluckebier of Richville; his buddy, Lonnie (Carol) Kester of Millington; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral and Committal services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese. Rev. Leonard Astrowski of the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove will officiate with private family burial to take place later in the Blumfield Township Cemetery. Clayton’s family received friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 7: 30 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 noon until time of the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the donor’s favorite charity.
