Arthur J. Spear, age 95, life long resident of Kingston, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his home in Koylton Township. He was born November 17, 1918 in Marlette, son to the late Irl and Etta (Arthur) Spear. He graduated from Kingston High School in 1936. He married Hazel J. Stimson February 10, 1951 in Marlette, she preceded him in death January 20, 1990. Mr. Spear worked at Active Homes, Guerdon Industries, Marlette Homes, Kingston Schools as a Bus Mechanic and farmed, retiring in 1971. Arthur enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by: Ralph Spear (Son) of Kingston, Harold Spear (Son) of Kingston, Marjorie and Roger Boggs (Daughter) of Dry Ridge, KY, Loretta Schlink (Daughter) of Reese, Ruth and Mark Wnuk (Daughter) of Essexville, Irene and Dennis Traxler (Daughter) of Kingston, Lloyd Spear (Brother) of Garden City, George and Kathy Spear (Brother) of Almont, Erma Morse (Sister) of Clifford; 4 grandchildren: Kim, Melanie, Tim and Luke; 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Irl and Etta, wife Hazel, grandson Dennis and sister Leola. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, with Pastor Len Wyatt from the Kingston Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be in the Kingston Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Kingston Fire & Rescue Service, 3655 Ross St., Kingston, MI. 48741 or the donation of your choice. Visitation was held on Tuesday 1pm to 8pm and Wednesday 10am to 11am at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette.
