Joseph Maxie Robbins, age 76, died October 3, 2014 at home with his family at his side. Funeral services were held at 3 PM Sunday, October 5, 2014, at the Community of Christ Church, 2062 W. Oregon St., Lapeer, MI. The family received visitors from 2 to 3 PM, Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Church. A private internment will take place at the North Grove Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hometown Hospice of Lapeer, MI. Joseph was born February 28, 1938 in Flint, MI, to Milo and Marie (Malette) Robbins. He was a 1955 graduate of Mayville High School, Joseph married Leah Thornton, June 17, 1955 in Caro, MI. After High School he attended GMI where he graduated as a Tool and Dye Maker. Joseph retired from General Motors after 26 years. Joseph was a minister for 45 years, and district president of Community of Christ Church, he was president of Habitat for Humanity of Tuscola Co., and a past Supervisor of Fremont Township. He loved refereeing basketball, baseball, and football; he also enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, carpentry and sharing good times with family and friends. He is survived by his wife: Leah, three children: Cynthia (David) Kapa of Mayville, MI, Joseph Robbins of Mayville, MI, and Katrina (Lance) Ray of Holly Springs, North Carolina, six grandchildren: Joseph E. Jr., Jerome, Nathan, Jared, Emily, and Elise, and two great- grand children: Charles J., and Lilia. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, and nine siblings.
