Preliminary results of November 2, 2014 elections

TUSCOLA COUNTY — As of press time Tuesday night, these are the preliminary election results:

County races:

There were two contested county races on the ballot. For Tuscola County Commissioner District No. 2: Incumbent Rep. Thomas Bardwell received 1,900 and newcomer Dem. Rick Jonas received 1,121 votes.

For the Tuscola County Road Commission: Incumbent Rep. Jack Laurie received 8,699 votes and newcomer independent candidate Robert Worth received   5,894 votes.

State races:

*For State Representative District No. 84, newcomers Rep. Edward Canfield received 6,816 votes and Dem. David Jaroch received 4,744 votes.

*For State Senate District No. 31, incumbent Rep. Mike Green received 9,263 votes in Tuscola County  and newcomer Dem. Ron Mindykowski received 5,362 votes in Tuscola County. The results in the other counties in District No. 31 were not available as of press time.

Township and village elections:

Millington Township – For township clerk, Rep. Sheila Hebner received 1,136 votes.

For the one township trustee seat: Robert Loomis received 745 votes and A. E. Hoard received 759.

 

VILLAGE SEATS:

Akron Village:

For village president: Incumbent Juanita Hollister received 50 votes; challenger Bob Hill received 48.

For the three trustee seats:

Incumbents:

Chris Cartland received 73 votes; Carol Dworzecki received 44

Newcomers:

Michael Ruppal received 75; Keith Alvin Vollmar received 38.

Running for the two, two-year seats incumbent Lisa Duke – Schneider 78 received and newcomer Kathy Brabo received 76

 

Cass City Village:

For president: Incumbent Carl Palmateer received 615 votes.

For the three trustee seats:

Newcomers:

Marilyn Biefer received 497; Stephen Erickson received 372; Mark Karwowski received 361; Donald Richards received 359

 

Fairgrove Village:

For village president, incumbent Tom Wassa received 39 write-in votes.

Only incumbent Catherine Phelps filed and received 114 votes.

Two trustee seats remain open.

 

Gagetown Village:

For Gagetown Village president: Incumbent David Abbe received 101 votes and newcomer Danny Bergman received 36.

For the three trustee seats:

Incumbents:

William John Ehrilich, Jr., received 91 votes;  Walt Swiastyn received 87

Newcomers:

Dawn Bergman received 34; Donald William Montreuil received 110.

For the partial term, incumbent Paul Hunter received 101.

 

Kingston Village:

For Kingston Village president: Incumbent Robin Lafond received 106 votes.

For the two trustee seats: Cory Skinner received 95 votes  and Roger Warrington received 88.

 

Mayville Village:

For the three trustees seats:

Incumbents:

Roxanne Hitter received 156 votes; Cecila Kapcia received 136; Sue Marlow received 159

Newcomer:

Anthony Windham received 146

For the two, two-year trustee seats:

Incumbents:

Wanda Mary Topham received 69; William Barkowska received 141

Newcomers:

Christopher Bennett received 59; Steve Charette received 82; Suzette Bennett received 69

 

Millington Village:

For the three, trustee seats incumbents David John Cobb received 227, Sandra Fackler received 226 and Barbara Jean Maxfield received 184 votes.

 

Reese Village:

For Reese Village president: Incumbent Jerry Ellison received 481 votes.

Running for the three trustee seats:

Incumbents:

Tim Elbers received 364; Paul Keast received 290; Richard Oliver received 262.

Newcomer:

Courtney Ross received 320.

 

Unionville Village:

For the three trustee seats:

Incumbents:

Betty Martinez received 30

David Vanhove received 98

Thomas Young received 105

Newcomers:

Jeff Anker received 123; Kathi Carson received 69; Chastity Hartman received 40

For the partial-term trustee seat:

Ralph Rasch received  156; Jeffrey Sakon received 138

Results are preliminary until the election commissions verify them.
